11th/12th December 1993
After two years of planning, indoor motor racing finally came to the British Isles for the first time.
A purpose built 350 yard Oval was constructed inside the magnificent arena of Earls Court 2 which enabled 1600 Hot Rods, National Superstox and National Hot Rods to compete for the Thunderdrome Trophies sponsored by Avon Tyres.
It’s all here, 27 races split into three 9 race programmes of Saturday Night, Sunday Afternoon and Sunday Evening; The Mayflower Drum & Bugle Band; The Kangaroo Kid on his car jumping Quad Bike and last but not least The Vander Brothers from South Africa with their “Wheel of Death”.
The excellent track produced some of the most consistently close racing seen for a long time on any small oval, as anyone who was there will confirm.
This possibly unique event could be regarded as the short circuit highlight of ‘93, now you can see what it was like on this special price full length DVD of a great event.
